STRESS
by Daniell Lemmer
According to healthline.com, stress is a state of mental or emotional strain caused by adverse circumstances.
As high school students, we are not strangers to the feelings of stress. We are constantly worried and stressed about tests, exams and the uncertainty of the future. Therefore, it is important to know how to deal with stress, because stress can easily overpower you and leave you totally defenceless and vulnerable.

Speak to someone when you are stressed so that they can help to identify the triggers of your stress.
Practise stress management by finding techniques and taking positive action when dealing effectively with and minimising the effects of stress. Depending on the preference of the person, such methods could include exercising, meditation or practising yoga. Any activity that occupies your thoughts and relaxes your body will be suitable. However, taking care of your body through healthy eating habits cannot be underestimated, while giving your body enough time to rest and sleep are essential ways in dealing with stress.
Take time to unwind and relax. Surround yourself with people who make you feel at ease. Speak to them about how you are feeling and admit when you need help. Ensure that you do not upset yourself unnecessarily.
If you allow it, stress can take command of your entire life. Prevent this from happening by finding a suitable pastime and surrounding yourself with positive people.
